Project “Enhancing Identification of Victims of Trafficking in Human Beings” is funded by the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA) that provides assistance within the framework of the European Partnership of the potential candidate countries and the Accession Partnership of the candidate countries.
Background information
Trafficking in human beings is one of the most unscrupulous examples of human rights violations aimed at reaping illegal profit. It has been recognized as a burgeoning issue in the struggle against international organized crime. Croatian citizens or foreigners trafficked are mostly women and girls who are sexually exploited. In the Republic of Croatia, since 2002 total of 116 victims were identified amongst whom 58 were Croatian citizens. In 2012, total of 11 victims were identified.
