The Vice-President of the European Commission Dubravka Šuica handed over the decision on the payment of the third tranche of 700 million euros under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) to Prime Minister Andrej Plenković in Zagreb.
With this payment, Croatia has so far received a total of 2.9 billion euros in support under the Recovery and Resilience Mechanism, including 818 million euros in pre-financing followed by three payments of 700 million euros each. A fourth payment request is planned to be submitted in December.
This third payment followed after Croatia fulfilled a total of 32 key stages and 13 target values within the third payment request defined by the Council’s Implementing Decision.
This includes reforms in the field of healthcare; science and higher education; research and innovation; labor market; waste management; and renewable energy sources, as well as investments in energy renovation of buildings, green and digital transition of tourism.
It’s worth noting that Croatia’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan is financed by non-refundable funds amounting to 5.5 billion euros. In August 2023, Croatia submitted a request to amend the plan and add a chapter on the REPowerEU plan. The Commission positively assessed Croatia’s revised plan, which will be funded with a total value of 10 billion euros.
