The contracts were signed by with the following institutions:
- The Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology (centre Zadar), project Marasca Sour Cherry (Prunus cerasus var. Marasca) as Ingredients for Functional Foods, contract amount: EUR 484.230,96
- Karlovac University of Applied Sciences, project INnovation,Technology Transfer and REsearch Provision Infrastructure Development in Karlovac (INTREPID-Karlovac), contract amount: EUR 996.113,35
- The University of Zagreb, project Technology mapping at the University of Zagreb, contract amount: EUR 240.964,00
- Ruđer Bošković Institute, project Development of Innovation System at Ruđer Bošković Institute and University of Rijeka, contract amount: EUR 411.912,50
- Ruđer Bošković Institute, project Creation of research related infrastructure for Translational Medicine and Applied Genomics, contract amount: EUR 491.485,24
Science and Innovation Investment Fund (SIIF) grant scheme is implemented within the Instrument for pre-accession assistance (IPA), Component IIIC (Regional Development – Regional Competitiveness).
SIIF is focused on establishing links between science and industry, namely transferring research results to the industry sector.
SIIF was launched on 28 May 2009, with two deadlines for the submission of project proposals. Five project proposals, out of 19 applications that were received within the first deadline, were finally selected. Considering the fact that the evaluation for project proposals received within the second deadline is still ongoing, it is predicted that the contracts will be signed in March 2011.
SIIF covers activities in innovation and technology transfer field. Call for proposals is limited to higher educational institutions (HEI) and public research organisations (PRO). An overall budget for SIIF is EUR 5 million. The programme is implemented by the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports within the framework of two EU-funded projects: SIIF grant scheme and Technical Assistance to SIIF.
