The European Commission (DG-NEAR) and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia organized the annual meeting of the National Contact Points for Twinning and TAIEX instruments in Zagreb on 28-29 May 2024. Representatives from the EU member states and beneficiary countries of the IPA and ENI programs gathered to exchange best practices and experiences in implementing and using these instruments.
The meeting covered various topics, including the successful implementation of the Twinning project “Improving Spatial Data Services in the Republic of Moldova following EU standards”. This project was implemented by the Croatian State Geodetic Administration in collaboration with the geodetic administrations of Poland and the Netherlands, with administrative support from the CFCA.
Colleagues from the Twinning Service actively participated in the meeting, presenting CFCA’s experience as a contracting authority in Croatia when it was a beneficiary, and later as an administrative body for Twinning after Croatia became an EU member state. They emphasized the CFCA’s role in providing administrative, financial, legal, and logistical support to Croatian institutions and short-term experts participating in the implementation of Twinning projects.
The meeting concluded with optimism for further cooperation and institutional progress within the European neighbourhood. It underscored the importance of such initiatives in strengthening European partnerships and regional stability. As a result, the European Commission aims to enhance flexibility and responsiveness to partner countries’ needs, thereby improving project effectiveness, productivity, and contributing to the EU’s enlargement policy.
