The project was implemented by the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation, IRZ, and the Grouping of Public Interest “Justice Coopération Internationale”, GIP JCI, France, and lasted 25 months. The overall objective of the project was to enhance effectiveness and efficiency of pre-trial criminal proceedings. The project purpose was to support courts, State Attorney’s Office and Ministry of Interior in the implementation of the new Criminal Procedures Act. The results of the project are strengthening the rule of law in Croatia throughout enhancing effectiveness and efficiency of criminal proceedings in Croatia:
- Enhanced functions of courts in criminal proceedings
- Strengthened independence of public prosecutors
- Enhanced performance of public prosecutors
- Enhanced performance of the police in criminal investigation
