Ms Ivana Mrkonjić, State Secretary in the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports, Mr Rein Ruubel, team leader for technical assistance to SIIF grant scheme and Mr Richard Masa, Head of Operations Section in Delegation of the European Union to theRepublicofCroatiawill present aims and possibilities of the grant scheme. Subsequently, experience of the project team in preparing and implementing the project “Technology mapping at theUniversityofZagreb”, contracted within the first Call for proposal, will be presented.
Second Call for proposal has been announced in August 2011, with the deadline for submission of project proposals until 21 October 2011. Altogether, EUR 6, 7 million is allocated for projects of Higher Education Institutions (HEI) and Public Research Organizations (PRO). Chosen projects will be financed in the minimum amount of € 50,000.00 and maximum € 750,000.00. Within the first Call for proposals five contracts, in amount of EUR 2.624.706, 05, have been signed in October 2010, with the following institutions: the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology (centre Zadar), Karlovac University of Applied Sciences, theUniversity ofZagreb and Ruđer Bošković Institute.
The objectives of the two Calls for proposals within SIIF grant scheme is to build technology transfer and commercialization capacities of HEI’s and PRO’s in order to contribute to sustainable regional development and industry competitiveness of high value added sectors of the economy.
In relation to Calls for proposals, technical assistance is available. Its aim is to support the project pipeline building, through trainings and advisory services for project applicants, and to provide on-going help during the implementation period of the projects, foreseen until July 2012.
